We interviewed Andrew, whose wife has been a resident of Branksome Park Care Home, in Poole for the past four years.
Here is what Andrew had to say during the interview:
My wife has been here for four years now. She suffered a very severe stroke following a hip operation and was in Royal Bournemouth Hospital for three months. It was touch and go, but she pulled through. I looked at three or four care homes, and when I came to Branksome Park, I was very happy with it.
How do you find the standard of care at Branksome Park Care Centre?
She’s had terrific care here, right through the pandemic, which was very, very difficult for all of us. The staff here were fantastic during all those difficulties, and they continue to be. They really are great—the nurses, the carers, the management. They can’t do enough. They’re very friendly, and I always feel welcome when I come here, which is very positive to me.
What is your overall impression of Branksome Park Care Home?
The staff always smile, they always help, and they always call me by my name, which I think is great. My wife is fine, she’s not great, but she’s fine. Without Branksome Park, I don’t think I’d still have her. They make every effort—nothing is too much trouble. It’s not like a nursing home really, It’s like a family here. The staff interact with each other, with the residents, and with the visitors, and that’s so important for me.
Would you recommend Branksome Park Care Home?
Yes, absolutely. The friendliness and willingness of the staff to go the extra mile means a lot to me. Nothing is too much trouble, and I feel confident that my wife is getting the best care possible. For me, that’s absolutely paramount.
