Earlier this year we interviewed Eileen one of our residents, and her daughter Elaine on how they find the care offered at Kingsman House Care Home in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Here is what Eileen & Elaine had to say:
My name’s Elaine and I’m my mother’s daughter. My mother’s name’s Eileen and I’m sure she’d like to introduce herself to you. Named after Eileen Joyce, the famous pianist.
Eileen, how long have you been at Kingsman House Care Home?
Two and a half years. I like it here; it’s comfortable, it’s clean, people are helpful, and I’m in the front of the building so I look over people coming in to park and you know, it’s um, I’m in a good spot.
Elaine, what made you think Kingsman House Care Home was the right place for your mother?
My sister came down and the two of us went to several different care homes and immediately we felt like this was the right place for her. Everybody’s been so kind and welcoming. We felt like, like Mom, the level of cleanliness and the level of care seemed to be so high. Initially, we had Mom in here for two weeks respite care until she got strong enough to go home, was what we were thinking. And then in that time Mom settled so quickly and so happily that actually we didn’t look back and she ended up staying here and has been here ever since. So it’s been a real success story for her and obviously for relatives it’s really reassuring that she’s here and she’s happy and she’s settled in so quickly. So yeah, we’re very pleased.
Eileen, how do you find the standard of care at Kingsman House Care Home?
I haven’t got a special career, but I do feel secure because you know there’s people around you all the time, you’re not on your own, are you? But um, here you feel well, if you fell somebody would find you, wouldn’t they? Yeah, it’s nice here.
What would you say to someone looking to come to Kingsman House Care Home?
Eileen: Don’t say no because it’s clean, they look after you, and the food’s good. There’s nothing against it at all. I’m happy here, yeah.
Elaine: Well, the staff are kind, that’s what makes it a step above anything else. All the staff that we’ve come across in those two and a half years, they’ve all shown kindness, and that’s what you want, isn’t it?
